Supply meets demand – The price of Pis and flight controllers.

The ongoing supply chain issues affect almost every market center. I recently wanted Pixhawk 4 flight controller, after burning out a few, and on Amazon to get a couple since they are usually sub 100 dollars. I looked on Amazon and the most extreme price was in this image but over 300 USD was not uncommon. The prices are starting to fall but they are still expensive.

The Pixhawk 4 is scarce and lower end flight controllers such as the Pixhawk 4 V 2.3.8 which, by the way, and burned out but in this case, it was not my fault but a company’s hardware that was faulty. Whish I had that on film. Interestingly enough the Pixhawk that I fried was connected to a Raspberry pi 3 +. Those usually go for around 45 to 50 US at least they did about 6 or more months ago. Now they are usually over 140 but you can find them as low as 129 if you can find them.

I’ve burned a few PIs, but they are surprisingly tough. Nowadays I usually don’t bother to buy a single PI but rather get a kit that costs the same and usually comes with a power supply and sd-card. It ends up being way cheaper. For example, check  out this kit with a PI 4.

Anyways it is interesting watching how things are working themselves out. This must be really hurting larger business but it’s really rough on us little guys.
